For our fourth artist announcement; we have a double billing! Both Jane McCulla and Shona Clarkson from Canterbury Potters are longtime ceramic artists who have been actively engaged with the pottery community in Christchurch and abroad for a number of years. First Thursdays and Form Gallery are excited to be showcasing their work and encouraging public interaction as part of their project for First Thursdays Stars of Sydenham.
The Form Gallery window at 468 Colombo St will become both stage and exhibit space as the artists take turns performing live pottery wheel demonstrations throughout the evening. This special event will provide a rare glimpse into the process of making their well known and internationally exhibited work. Join them between 5pm and 7.30pm; questions are encouraged!
Education and community involvement are some interests shared by both Jane and Shona. For the second part of their project, they will be inviting locals and visitors alike to take part in creating a community mandala made from clay. From 5pm, get your hands dirty and leave your own mark in a transient, environmental artwork opposite the gallery on the corner of Sandyford and Colombo St.
Special thanks to DiggersNZ for the use of their park space across the road!
